Wow! The first quarter of 2024 has been quite a ride! Welcome to the NEW and IMPROVED “Stress Talk” in Print. I want to express my appreciation for your patience. I paused publication as I focused on some other upgrades and changes. I will outline what those are and give you a preview of what to expect from this point on. Planting Seeds to Grow My Private Practice In January I received an invitation to affiliate with Brunswick Medical. Brunswick Medical is the medical practice of family physician Jeuslyn Chandler, MD. She moved to Brunswick, GA and is establishing her practice here. This affiliation will enable Brunswick Medical and ML Bailey Consultants to provide services in a comprehensive manner. I moved my office to new quarters in February. I had fun conceptualizing and planning what I wanted it to look like. I envisioned a welcoming space. Here are a few pictures to give you an idea of what it is like. Let me know what you think. I will be adding more artwork to the walls soon. I joined the ALMA network in March to help me run my private practice. The ALMA team will confirm insurance eligibility and provide an estimate of your payment responsibility. They will also send appointment confirmation emails and invoices. If there are any policy updates, the ALMA team will notify you of such. This is a gamechanger because it allows me more time to provide you with the best care possible. Additionally, I offer free 15-minute consultations to potential clients to determine whether our working together is a good fit. The decision to see a therapist is personal. One should make an informed choice about the professional who will be with them through this season of their journey. Participating in the Community I had the privilege of presenting at the VIA Connects Women’s Conference on March 9, 2024. This year’s theme was RADIATE. My topic was Mind Over Matters: Putting Your Mind on What Really Matters. I am grateful to the VIA Connects organization for the opportunity to share my take on stress management. I am also grateful to the participants who once again filled my room to overflowing. Overall, it was a fantastic day! Watch the VIA Connects Conference Video to learn more. On March 16, 2024, I hosted a booth at the Black Family Expo hosted by The Brunswick Chapter of the Links, Inc. I had wonderful conversations with women and men who were looking for ways to lower their stress levels. Many of us appear calm on the outside and churn on the inside. Doc McStuffins was there. What a joy to be in her presence! Participating Beyond the Community I was invited to participate in the Social Conscious Summit organized by Tamera Dopwell, social worker, and entrepreneur to commemorate Social Work Month. Social workers nationwide attended the virtual event. I shared Creating Social Consciousness through Stress Management. What’s Next I earned the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification by Dharma Moon and Tibet House after completing the 100-hour Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training by Dharma Moon. For 6 months, my cohort and I met weekly with senior teacher David Nichtern and the assistant teachers of Dharma Moon. David Nichtern studied directly under Chögyam Trungpa who is credited with bringing the dharma to the Western world. In April, I will hold an information session to introduce my new mindfulness meditation program. This session will offer an opportunity for you to ask questions and to learn about the group mindfulness meditation program that will begin in May. Many of you watch my weekly podcast “Stress Talk” live on Sundays 7 pm on my Facebook page and YouTube channel. In April I plan to go live on Instagram as well. The weekly 10-minute segments will offer demonstrations, practice, and practical ways to lower your stress levels through strategic stress management and solution focused selfcare. Hit me back with a response if you have questions or comments. I look forward to hearing from you. As Always, Take good care |
